The Motorists’ Association of Kenya and the Matatu Owners Association (MOA) have threatened to stage nationwide demonstrations starting next Monday, citing what they describe as the failure of security agencies and the National Transport and Safety Authority to rein in boda boda lawlessness.
MOA has further warned that it may revive previously disbanded outlawed groups that once protected their vehicles. Boda boda operators, however, have denied involvement in recent arson attacks, instead accusing angry members of the public of venting their frustrations on public service vehicles.
