The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to mothers across Nigeria, applauding their resilience, courage, sacrifices, and invaluable contributions to family life and national development.
In a message marking the 2026 Mother’s Day celebration, the First Lady described mothers as the silent architects of the nation’s future and the enduring heartbeat of every home, whose daily efforts continue to shape society in profound ways.
“Today, I honour and celebrate every mother across Nigeria. Your love, care, and sacrifices do not go unnoticed,” she said.
Highlighting the often-overlooked depth of maternal devotion, Oluremi Tinubu noted that beyond major sacrifices, it is the quiet, everyday expressions of love that truly define motherhood.
“Beyond the big sacrifices, it is the small, quiet moments that truly define a mother’s love. On this special day, we carry those moments in our hearts and say thank you for the warmth and love you selflessly give,” she stated.
She further described mothers as true national heroes whose nurturing roles remain central to the stability and progress of the country.
“To all mothers who nurture, love, and shape our families, you are the heroes of our nation,” the First Lady added.
Oluremi Tinubu also encouraged mothers to remain steadfast in guiding and mentoring their children, stressing the importance of passing on wisdom, values, and strength to future generations.
“I implore our mothers to continue to teach and guide the children, passing down wisdom and strength that will benefit future generations.
“May we all live to enjoy the fruits of our labour over our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.”
Mother’s Day is observed globally as a celebration of mothers, motherhood, maternal bonds, and the enduring influence of women in society. While the date varies across countries, it is commonly marked in March or May with tributes, family gatherings, and special recognition of mothers’ contributions.
