Morocco has taken another major step in expanding its aerospace sector as King Mohammed VI and Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan attended the foundation stone-laying ceremony for a new aircraft engine complex by France’s Safran Group in Nouaceur, near Casablanca.
The new facility, which forms part of the Midparc aerospace platform, will include assembly and testing facilities for Safran engines, along with a dedicated maintenance unit for the company’s advanced LEAP engine models.
Industry Minister Ryad Mezzour described the project as a milestone that reinforces Morocco’s position as a leading global destination for high-technology industries. He credited this progress to the ongoing reforms and training initiatives spearheaded by King Mohammed VI, which have attracted major international investors to the country’s growing industrial base.
Safran chairman Ross McInnes hailed the royal presence at the event, saying, “We are honoured by the involvement of His Majesty the King, which reflects Morocco’s growing importance in the global aerospace supply chain.”
He added that the new complex will include a maintenance workshop under a memorandum of understanding signed on Tuesday, strengthening Safran’s long-term partnership with Morocco and contributing to job creation and skills development in the region.
The Safran project marks another key investment in Morocco’s rapidly expanding aerospace hub, further solidifying its status as a North African leader in aviation manufacturing and innovation.
