The Miss Universe Organisation has dismissed its Executive Director, Nawat Itsaragrisil, following his controversial remarks about Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch, during a pre-pageant event in Thailand.
Reports indicate that Nawat, a Thai businessman, publicly called Bosch “dumb” for allegedly failing to post promotional content on her social media accounts, a comment that quickly drew backlash within the pageant community.
In response, Bosch condemned the remarks as “disrespectful and undermining” before walking out of the event. Several contestants from other countries reportedly joined her in a show of solidarity.
Reacting to the incident, Miss Universe President Raúl Rocha announced Nawat’s dismissal in a video statement shared on Instagram.
Speaking in Spanish, Rocha said, “I have restricted Nawat’s participation in the events that are part of the 74th Miss Universe competition. I won’t let the values of respect and dignity of women be violated.”
The decision underscores the organisation’s renewed commitment to maintaining professionalism and respect for contestants as the 74th edition of Miss Universe continues.
