Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) ambassador Michael Nwabufo, popularly known as Mike Premium, has refuted claims that reality star Phyna demanded ₦1 billion in compensation over her sister’s case against Dangote.
Nwabufo addressed the issue on Wednesday through his Instagram story, sharing screenshots of his private exchanges with Phyna. According to him, at no point was a billion-naira demand made.
“On no occasion did we talk about ₦1 billion as a demand! False narrative,” he wrote. “The first and most urgent demand was that her sister be flown abroad for emergency medical treatment, because it was clear from the beginning that her condition required advanced care that wasn’t available locally.”
Phyna’s sister, Ruth Otabor, died after injuries sustained in a road accident involving a Dangote truck. Nwabufo insists her death was avoidable and blames it on negligence.
“Let it be known: This was not a natural death. Her life was forcefully taken not by fate, but by human negligence and disregard. This case? Phyna will get justice,” he stated.
The formal request submitted to Dangote was titled ‘Demand for compensation and medical intervention for victims of the Dangote cement truck accident’. It outlined six key demands, including medical bills, advanced prosthetics, and rehabilitation therapy.
Nwabufo further warned blogs and media outlets spreading reports of a ₦1bn demand to retract or provide evidence, threatening to sue those responsible.
“To all blogs and online platforms pushing lies: any blog or page posting that Phyna demanded ₦1 billion—if you don’t present credible evidence, I will personally make sure you spend some of your clickbait earnings in court,” he said.
He added that such reports risk pushing Phyna into depression, noting the sacrifices she made to support her late sister, including paying her school fees.
As the controversy grows, Nwabufo has vowed to continue pursuing justice for Ruth Otabor, saying, “Mark my words: No one born of a woman can stop it. Not in this country. Not anywhere.”
