As the Middle East conflict intensifies, Iranian authorities say 30 people, including a foreigner, have been arrested for spying on military and police operations amid regional tensions.
The arrests were announced on Tuesday by Iran’s intelligence ministry in a statement published by the judiciary’s Mizan Online news portal. Officials said the foreign national, whose nationality was not disclosed, was allegedly spying on behalf of the United States, Israel, and two Persian Gulf countries.
The individual is accused of transmitting sensitive information about the locations and movements of Iranian police, army forces, and military installations to foreign intelligence networks.
The ministry added that other detainees were linked to espionage activities and operational support for foreign powers.
Authorities did not provide details on the exact timing or locations of the arrests but said the operation was part of intensified counter-espionage efforts as the conflict continues.
Iran regularly reports arrests of individuals accused of spying for foreign powers, particularly during periods of heightened tensions with the West and allied regional states.
The latest announcement comes amid ongoing military engagements and airstrikes involving Iran and US‑Israeli forces in the region.
