American actor Michael B. Jordan has secured his first Best Actor award at the Academy Awards for his performance in the film Sinners.
The win marks a significant moment in Jordan’s career, strengthening his reputation as one of the most influential actors of his generation.
Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, received widespread acclaim, with Jordan’s performance earning particular praise from critics and audiences.

“I feel it. I know you guys want me to do well,” he said during his speech. “You believed in me and kept betting on me. I promise to keep stepping up and to keep striving to be the best version of myself.”
Jordan also acknowledged the contributions of the cast and crew who helped bring the film to life, noting that their efforts shaped the success of the project.
He dedicated the award to his parents, his partner Haley, and fellow cast members, including Miles, Delroy, Jamie, Lili, and Omar.
The actor also expressed appreciation to Warner Bros. and director Coogler for supporting the film’s production.
During the speech, Jordan paid tribute to influential Black performers who broke barriers in Hollywood. He mentioned icons such as Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, and Halle Berry, acknowledging their role in opening doors for actors like himself.
“To be among those giants and those greats, and among my ancestors, thank you,” he said.
Sinners is a horror drama set in 1932 Mississippi, following twin brothers who return to their hometown and confront supernatural vampires threatening their community.
Jordan’s victory at the Oscars further solidifies his standing as a major figure in contemporary Hollywood.
