Users of Meta platforms such as Facebook and Instagram will now benefit from new AI tools designed to improve account support and online protection.
The update introduces the Meta AI support assistant, now available globally, which the company says is designed to provide round-the-clock assistance for common account issues such as password resets, privacy adjustments and profile management.
Meta said the system is built to resolve user problems end-to-end, noting that “when you have an account issue, you need a solution, not just a suggestion”.
The AI assistant can also help users report scams, impersonation attempts, and harmful content, explain moderation decisions, and guide users through appeal processes. It also supports privacy controls and account recovery functions, with response times of under five seconds.
According to Meta, early user feedback has been largely positive, with the company adding that the assistant will continue to expand to cover more account-related scenarios and additional languages.
Beyond user support, Meta is also deploying advanced AI systems to improve content moderation and platform safety.
The company said the tools are already helping detect and block large volumes of scam activity daily, significantly reducing impersonation of verified or high-profile accounts, and improving detection of harmful content while lowering false positives.
Meta also noted that its systems are capable of operating across multiple languages and are designed to understand cultural context, slang, emojis, and evolving online behaviour patterns.
The company stressed that artificial intelligence is intended to complement human review teams rather than replace them, stating that “people will continue to play a key role in high-risk decisions, while AI handles repetitive or rapidly evolving threats”.
Meta said the combined use of automation and human oversight is aimed at improving safety, reducing harmful content, and making support services faster and more reliable across its platforms.
