Argentina captain Lionel Messi has congratulated Ousmane Dembele after the Frenchman won the 2025 Ballon d’Or, edging out Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.
Messi, who played alongside Dembele during their time at Barcelona, expressed his delight in a comment on the winger’s Instagram post following Monday’s ceremony at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
“Great Ous!!! Congratulations, I’m very happy for you. You deserve it,” Messi wrote.
Dembele finished ahead of Yamal and Vitinha to claim his first Ballon d’Or, fulfilling what he described as a “dream come true.”
