Argentina captain Lionel Messi has congratulated the country’s U-20 national team after they advanced to the final of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
The young Albicelestes secured their spot in the final after a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Colombia in the semi-finals, with Mateo Silvetti scoring the decisive goal in the second half.
Following the win, Messi took to his Instagram story to celebrate the team’s success and praise Silvetti, who also plays for Inter Miami, Messi’s club side.
“Let’s go to the finals! Congratulations to everyone! Great @toto.silvetti,” the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner wrote.
Argentina will face Morocco in Sunday’s final, October 19, after the North Africans stunned France in the other semi-final clash.
The South American giants remain the most successful team in the tournament’s history, having won the title six times, and will be aiming to clinch a record-extending seventh U-20 World Cup crown when they take on Morocco.
