Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson has raised concerns over the impact of false narratives about her on social media, revealing that her children are being bullied in school as a result of online rumours.
The actress spoke out on Monday morning, addressing what she described as the damaging effects of misinformation being circulated against her and her family on digital platforms.
Her comments follow a recent online controversy in which she faced criticism after a TikToker was reportedly arrested for making defamatory claims about her and her husband, allegedly linked to rumours shared by a popular blogger.
In a video posted on her Instagram page, Johnson explained that the decision to involve law enforcement was driven by the effect the rumours were having on her children. According to her, online trolls have labelled her a witch, a narrative she said has translated into real-life bullying.
She disclosed that her children, including teenagers, have been subjected to harassment in school, with some parents allegedly warning their children to avoid contact with hers because of the false claims circulating online.
The actress issued a stern warning to bloggers and social media users, urging them to keep her family out of public speculation. She alleged that some blogs spreading false stories about her are owned by colleagues within the entertainment industry.
Johnson stated that she is prepared to allow the law take its full course, stressing that anyone who makes allegations against her must be ready to prove them in court. She added that while one case may have been resolved, several others are still pending and will be pursued.
Emphasising her priorities, the actress said her focus remains on her husband and children, insisting that she has no interest in competition or validation from others. She criticised what she described as deliberate attempts to damage her marriage and reputation through propaganda and unfounded reports.
Mercy Johnson maintained that she entered her marriage without any hidden agenda or agreements and questioned why some individuals continue to speculate about its end. She concluded by reaffirming her resolve to protect her family, stating that she will no longer tolerate actions that expose her children to harm because of falsehoods shared online.
The video has since generated widespread reactions across social media, reigniting conversations around online responsibility, celebrity privacy, and the real-world consequences of digital misinformation.
