Reality TV star and actress Mercy Eke has dismissed a viral claim suggesting she intends to have a child outside marriage.
The BBNaija 2019 winner took to X on Tuesday to refute the reports, which had quoted her as saying she planned to have a child this year but postponed the idea due to unforeseen circumstances. Some reports also claimed she described herself as “goal-oriented” and capable of supporting three children outside wedlock.
Mercy Eke denied making such statements, emphasizing that she never granted any interview on the topic.
“Stop spreading fake news about me. I never said this or granted any interview,” she wrote in an X post, accompanied by an angry emoji. She also urged the newspaper that published the report to remove it immediately.
The clarification comes amid growing concern about misinformation targeting Nigerian celebrities on social media platforms.
