Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has crossed a major milestone on Spotify, surpassing 200 million streams on the global music platform.
Her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, took to Instagram to celebrate the achievement, describing it as proof that obedience to God always brings lasting reward.
Uzochikwa reflected on her journey, recalling that after winning Nigerian Idol in 2012, Chinwo had opportunities to pursue a secular music career. Instead, she chose to wait on God’s direction, a decision that, according to him, cost her four years of waiting but ultimately led to enduring success.
“In 2012, when she won Nigerian Idol, she had every chance to go secular. The fame was right there. But she chose obedience over compromise, and that decision cost her four years of waiting. It looked like a delay, but it wasn’t wasted,” he wrote.
Quoting scriptures, Uzochikwa encouraged fans to stay steadfast, stressing that “choosing God may look like a delay, but it will never be wasted.” He also tied Chinwo’s new album, In His Will, to her journey of faith and patience.
Mercy Chinwo, already one of Nigeria’s most streamed gospel artists, continues to grow her international audience with songs that have become staples in worship across Africa and beyond.
