Nigerian singer Mayorkun has refuted viral reports claiming that his residence in Lagos was affected by a fire outbreak.
Earlier reports had suggested that the singer’s home was gutted by fire on Saturday night while he and his children were inside, triggering widespread concern among fans and associates.
However, in a statement shared via Instagram by his mother, actress Toyin Adewale, Mayorkun dismissed the claims as false and misleading. He questioned the credibility of those who circulated the story, criticising the failure to verify information before publication.
Expressing frustration, the singer described the reports as unfair and reassured the public that his family was safe. He also offered prayers, insisting that no harm would come to them.
Toyin Adewale, while appreciating the outpouring of concern, echoed similar sentiments. She thanked supporters for their calls and messages, affirming that the family remained safe and unaffected.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the spread of unverified information on social media and its impact on public perception.
