Nollywood actress May Edochie, estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie, has filed a lawsuit against Yinka Theisen, alleging cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and defamation. The legal action stems from repeated social media posts by Yinka that May claims have damaged her reputation and personal safety.
According to a statement from her law firm, Graylaw Partners, the posts allegedly spread false information about May, ridiculing her and inciting harassment from third parties. The letter described the online activity as a “calculated attempt to tarnish her reputation and endanger her safety.”
May’s legal team is demanding that Yinka immediately remove all defamatory content, issue public apologies, and retract the posts across all platforms where the claims were circulated. Additionally, she is seeking ₦500 million in damages for emotional distress, reputational harm, and the alleged cyber harassment.
The notice underscores the growing concern over social media misuse and the impact of online harassment on public figures. It also reflects the broader legal steps Nigerian celebrities are increasingly taking to protect their reputations in the digital space.
The lawsuit adds another chapter to May Edochie’s ongoing legal and personal disputes, highlighting the pressures and scrutiny faced by Nollywood actors and their families.
