Amid mounting pressure to rescue kidnapped Maga schoolchildren, Defence Minister, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has made an unannounced entry into the Zuru Emirate to review frontline military operations, signaling renewed federal resolve in ongoing security operations.
According to a security source, the minister’s visit focused on assessing the operational efficiency of troops under Operation FANSAN Yamma, who are reportedly making significant advances into high-density areas targeted by armed groups.
Matawalle was said to have arrived quietly in Zuru on Saturday morning, November 23, alongside senior military officers before proceeding to visit soldiers on the frontlines to boost their morale.
The visit follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive instructing the minister to relocate to Kebbi State to fast-track the rescue mission for the abducted children.
Matawalle has assured that a systematic and coordinated operation is underway to secure the safe release of the victims. He also urged residents to support the security agencies as they work to combat criminal activity in the region.
