Nigeria’s food and entertainment industries are set for a major moment as the globally popular cooking competition MasterChef Nigeria prepares to premiere its first local edition.
The announcement was made at a launch event in Lagos, where organisers introduced the judging panel, sponsors and the grand prize for the debut season.
The Nigerian version of the internationally recognised franchise aims to spotlight talented home cooks while celebrating the country’s rich culinary traditions.
Judges to Lead the Competition
Two respected culinary figures will serve as judges for the inaugural season: Chef Eros, known for his creative culinary ventures including Ìlè Eros, and Chef Stone, founder of Red Dish Chronicles Culinary School.
The pair will assess contestants’ dishes and challenge participants to innovate while drawing inspiration from traditional Nigerian cuisine.
Major Sponsors Back the Show
Organisers also confirmed strong corporate backing for the programme.
Power Oil will serve as the headline sponsor, while Sonia joins as a tactical sponsor.
Other partners supporting the production include Indomie, Malta Guinness, Coca-Cola and Flour Mills of Nigeria.
₦73 Million Prize at Stake
Contestants will compete for a grand prize valued at ₦73 million, as well as the historic distinction of becoming the first-ever winner of MasterChef Nigeria.
According to organisers, the programme aims to go beyond entertainment by promoting Nigerian food culture and giving home cooks a platform to showcase their skills.
Premiere Date Announced
The first season of MasterChef Nigeria is scheduled to premiere on April 26, 2026, airing at 7:00 PM on Africa Magic Showcase and Africa Magic Family.
With the global franchise now adapted locally, the show is expected to attract wide interest from audiences eager to see Nigeria’s culinary creativity brought to television screens.
