Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca says Trevoh Chalobah’s red card was the turning point in their 3-1 Premier League defeat to Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Goals from Danny Welbeck and Maxim De Cuyper sealed the win for the visitors, while Enzo Fernández grabbed Chelsea’s lone goal.
“In the first half we were in control, creating chances and not conceding,” Maresca said after the match.
“In the second half, after five or six minutes, because of our mistake, we were with 10 players and unfortunately the game changed.”
Chelsea now shift focus to Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Benfica.
