Fulham manager Marco Silva has heaped praise on Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze following the 26-year-old’s influential performance in the Whites’ 1-0 win over Sunderland.
Chukwueze came off the bench to provide a perfectly-timed cross that Raul Jimenez converted for the decisive goal late in the match. This marked the winger’s second assist in just five Premier League appearances for Fulham, all of which had come from the bench.
The former Villarreal star created two key chances, maintained a 100% dribble success rate, and won all his duels against an in-form Sunderland side, highlighting his growing importance to the team.
Silva indicated that Chukwueze’s impact could see him earn a starting berth in upcoming fixtures, despite the player being set to join the Nigerian national team for the Africa Cup of Nations.
“We always had the possession well balanced, good performance overall. Massive impact from Emile Smith Rowe and Chukwueze. We are going to need Samuel [Chukwueze] from the start, but we will lose him to AFCON soon. Clean sheet, solid,” Silva said.
