Technical advisor Mbwas Mangut has offered an honest appraisal of Niger Tornadoes’ recent performance, acknowledging that his squad encountered significant difficulties during their hard-fought victory over Wikki Tourists. The Minna-based outfit secured a 2-0 win at the Bako Kontagora Stadium on Sunday, a result that bolsters their standing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The breakthrough came via an Abdulrasheed Shehu Dabai penalty, while Terdoo Shimagande provided the final flourish with a clinical header in the closing stages of the encounter.
Despite the positive scoreline, Mangut noted that the team lacked cohesion during the initial stages of the match, necessitating proactive interventions from the touchline. The tactical shifts implemented by the coaching staff proved decisive, allowing the “Ikon Allah Boys” to reclaim control and secure all three points. Currently situated in 11th place on the league table, the club remains focused on distancing themselves from the relegation zone and ensuring a stable finish to the campaign.
In a post-match briefing with the club’s communications department, Mangut expressed his gratitude for the result while highlighting the grit displayed by his players under pressure.
“We thank God for the win. It was a great effort and performance from the players—they showed real desire,” Mangut told the club’s media.
“We struggled to find our rhythm in the first half, which led to the changes we made, and thankfully they worked.”
Looking ahead, the tactician emphasized that the primary objective for the remainder of the season is to consolidate their position within the top flight.
“Our target remains to secure our NPFL status and finish comfortably,” he added.
