Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim will be without two key players when his side faces Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off.
Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and defender Lisandro Martinez have both been ruled out of the trip to North London, dealing a setback to United’s preparations for the crucial fixture.
Mainoo, who is yet to start a league match this season, remained an unused substitute in last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest, and has not been included in the squad that travelled to London.
Meanwhile, Martinez—who recently returned to full training after a lengthy injury layoff—will not be risked for the game as the coaching staff aim to manage his recovery carefully.
Both players were notably absent from the United contingent that departed for London on Friday afternoon.
In a positive development, 18-year-old academy prospect Jack Fletcher is expected to be named in the matchday squad for the first time this season, offering Amorim a fresh midfield option.
Manchester United will be hoping to maintain momentum and secure valuable points in their quest for a Premier League top-four finish, despite the absence of two first-team regulars.
