Manchester United’s hierarchy is standing by manager Ruben Amorim despite mounting pressure following Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad, according to Manchester Evening News.
The result leaves United languishing in 14th place after four Premier League games this season. Although the Red Devils created chances, they lacked the cutting edge to punish their rivals.
Club legend Gary Neville has warned that Amorim could be “in trouble” if United remain in the bottom half heading into October.
Amorim, who has now spent 10 months at Old Trafford, has collected only 31 points from 31 league matches, losing 16 in the process.
For now, the United board is keeping faith with the 40-year-old, but their upcoming clash against fifth-placed Chelsea could prove decisive in his tenure.
