Vice President Kashim Shettima and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum have visited survivors of a mosque bomb blast in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The victims are receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) and the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri. During the visit on Friday, both Shettima and Zulum offered comfort to the injured and their families while assessing the medical care provided.
The attack, believed to have been carried out by Boko Haram insurgents on Wednesday, left five people dead and 32 injured.
Addressing journalists, Shettima and Zulum, expressed condolences to the victims and reaffirmed the administration of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to tackling terrorism and restoring lasting peace in the country.
Governor Zulum added, “We are here to sympathise with the victims and assure the people of Borno, and by extension the nation, that the government remains steadfast in protecting lives and property.
The Borno State Government has been working tirelessly to complement federal efforts, and we appreciate their dedication to strengthening security in the state”, he added.
The delegation was briefed by the director of the Muhammadu Buhari Trauma Centre, who confirmed that several victims had been discharged, many were responding well to treatment, and one remained in critical condition.
