As the search continues for the students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, the community has turned to spiritual intervention, holding a special prayer session for their safe return.
The Chairman of Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, Hussaini Aliyu, confirmed the prayer gathering in a phone interview on Friday. He explained that although official duties would prevent him from attending, he had directed his deputy to represent him at the event.
Aliyu said the community remains deeply shaken by the abduction and has resorted to collective prayer as security agencies intensify efforts to rescue the girls.
“The community has decided to gather on Friday for a special prayer for the safe return of our daughters,” he said.
“The entire community is traumatised, and we believe prayer is our strongest weapon at this moment,” the district head added.
Armed bandits attacked the school in the early hours of Monday, kidnapping 25 students—a crime that has sparked widespread outrage and renewed demands for stronger security measures across schools in the North-West.
