Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has expressed his delight after returning to action following a two-month suspension.
The Nigeria international had been banned over his alleged involvement in a betting scandal, which kept him out of competitive football since the start of the season.
Okoye made his long-awaited comeback in Udinese’s 1-1 draw with Cremonese on Monday night, putting in a solid performance between the sticks.
Celebrating his return, the 26-year-old took to Instagram to share his joy, writing:
“Happy to be back, back to doing what I love most. Back to fighting alongside my teammates, back to fighting in front of our fans, back to doing what I am doing since a young boy.
Back to following the path my father fought for, back to having fun, back to chasing dreams, back to doing what I’ll die for.”
Okoye’s return to form could see him recalled to the Super Eagles ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff clash against Gabon next month.
