French President Emmanuel Macron has invited US President Donald Trump to a high-profile dinner at the Palace of Versailles following the upcoming G7 summit in France, according to sources.
France is set to host this year’s G7 summit in Evianes Bains from June 15–17, with Macron reportedly planning a lavish post summit reception at Versailles. However, it remains unclear whether Trump will attend either the summit or the dinner event.
The invitation comes as growing diplomatic tensions between Trump and several G7 leaders, including the UK’s Keir Starmer, particularly over disagreements linked to Iran policy and NATO cooperation
Trump’s attendance at the G7 is still uncertain and a potential absence would be a significant setback for Macron’s efforts to project unity among Western allies
White House officials confirmed the invitation but said Trump has not made any final decision on attending, while French officials noted that the format of any Versailles reception is still being finalised.
