The political rift within the ruling UDA party in Machakos County has deepened after Matungulu East MCA Joseph Munywoki shut down the party’s local office.
Munywoki removed all the furniture from the office and took it to his home, citing neglect and disrespect from the party leadership despite his commitment to strengthening UDA’s activities in the ward. He explained that he personally financed the leasing and furnishing of the office, but his efforts had gone unrecognised.
The fallout follows a recent party meeting where Munywoki claims he was humiliated after being denied a chance to speak on time. In anger, he revealed that he spent over Sh5 million during the general election campaigns, yet he has not received any development assistance to date.
