Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman has challenged his Atalanta teammates to show greater consistency and killer instinct after netting his first Serie A goal of the season in their 1–1 draw with AC Milan on Tuesday night.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year delivered a standout performance at the Stadio di Bergamo, earning the Man of the Match award after his first-half strike rescued a point for the hosts.
Samuele Ricci had put Milan ahead in the 4th minute, but Lookman levelled shortly before halftime, smashing home from Mario Pašalić’s assist.
Speaking to newsmen after the match, Lookman expressed satisfaction at returning to the scoresheet but admitted that Atalanta must keep improving.
“It feels good to be back and to help the team,” he said. “The most important thing is to keep improving because we need to grow as a group. What matters in the end is helping the team win matches.”
The 28-year-old endured a mixed start to the season following summer transfer speculation linking him with Inter Milan and Bayern Munich. After his potential move fell through, he struggled for form and fitness, featuring briefly against Torino and missing the Juventus clash.
However, under new manager Ivan Jurić, Lookman has started six consecutive matches, steadily rediscovering the sharpness and confidence that made him one of Atalanta’s most influential players last season.
