The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has congratulated London-based Nigerian content creator Bemi Orojogun, popularly known as “London Bus Aunty”, after she clinched the Video of the Year award at the 2025 TikTok UK Awards.
In a post on X, Khan commended her infectious love for London’s iconic red buses, noting that her creativity has resonated with viewers across the country.
“Congratulations to London’s very own Bus Aunty for winning Video of the Year at the TikTok Awards,” he wrote. “Her love of our iconic red buses has captured hearts across the country. And did you know? She’s a proud fan of the Bakerloop – London’s newest express bus route.”
Orojogun triumphed over fellow nominees Friends of Elmtree, Sam Morris, Gardiner Brothers, Joseph Machines, and Brad Ben in the highly competitive category celebrating standout creators.
The content creator, who shot to fame in 2024 with a viral forced-perspective video, has since become a recognised digital influencer. Her partnerships span major global brands including Burberry, H&M, and MAC Cosmetics, and she has also worked alongside Sadiq Khan to promote London’s zero-emission buses.
In her acceptance speech, Orojogun encouraged aspiring creators to pursue their passions without fear. “Don’t allow your age to stop you,” she said. “Don’t allow your family to say don’t do that, it’s embarrassing. If you love it, do it.”
Her award-winning video has amassed nearly 50 million views, sparking excitement among fans, with Nigerians humorously daring her to try her quirky stunts in bustling locations like Oshodi or CMS.
Orojogun’s victory marks a major milestone in her journey from viral sensation to influential digital personality.
