Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has downplayed concerns about his job security following the Reds’ damaging 4–1 Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night.
The loss extended Liverpool’s alarming run of form, with the Premier League giants now suffering nine defeats in their last 12 matches across all competitions. Prior to the trip to the Netherlands, the team endured consecutive 3–0 losses to Manchester City and Nottingham Forest, deepening pressure on the new manager.
Liverpool currently sit 12th in the Premier League standings and 13th in the Champions League group phase, far below expectations for a club of their stature, prompting intense scrutiny over Slot’s future.
When questioned about the possibility of getting sacked, Slot maintained that he remains focused on improving the team rather than worrying about his position.
“I’m not worried,” Slot said when asked directly about the growing speculation.
“What I mean with that is that my focus is on other things than worrying about my own position.
“I try to analyze, try to help the players as much as I can and it’s obvious that I don’t do it in the way I did that last season because when you talk about individual errors, I think that’s also something that comes from a team effort.”
Liverpool will now face increased pressure to respond as they look to halt their slump and revive their Premier League and Champions League campaigns.
