Nigerian dancer and former Big Brother Naija star, Roseline Omokhoa Afije, popularly known as Liquorose, has shared candid insights into her early life and personal growth.
Speaking on a recent podcast with media personality VJ Adams, Liquorose revealed that she once hawked food and sold toys in the market despite coming from an “average but comfortable” family. Her curiosity for business pushed her into petty trading from a young age, even as her older siblings tried to prevent her from helping in her mother’s movie cassette rental shop.
“I hawked food, cooked rice, and carried it on my head to sell after school. I would buy Okirika from Yaba market and resell it. I had money, but when they found out, I was flogged severely. I was about eight or nine years old,” she recounted.
Reflecting on her current ambitions, Liquorose disclosed that if she were to make serious investments in 2025, she would consider AirBnB or content creation, showing her continued drive to expand creatively.
The dancer also opened up about her personal habits and emotional growth. She admitted to sometimes ignoring issues or phone calls, striving to make others happy at her own expense, and using crying as a coping mechanism. “I can endure things I shouldn’t, just to make someone else happy. Then I go back to my room and cry about it. But since I turned 30, I’ve been working on speaking up,” she said.
Liquorose further shared that she used to struggle with anger issues while growing up but worked on managing her temper before entering Big Brother Naija, acknowledging that her growth has been pivotal in both her personal life and career.
