Popular Nigerian actor Linc Edochie has cautioned citizens in northern Nigeria against actions that could draw the attention of superpower nations, amid rising global tensions.
The warning came after protests erupted in some northern states following reports of the death of Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, allegedly killed on February 28, 2026, in a joint airstrike by Israel and the United States.
In response, Iran reportedly launched retaliatory strikes on Israeli and U.S. assets in the Middle East, prompting solidarity demonstrations in parts of northern Nigeria.
Addressing the situation in a video shared on his Facebook page, Edochie urged protesters to avoid provoking global powers, emphasizing that Nigeria would be unable to withstand their wrath.
“This may not be our direct concern, but what is happening in the world, let us take this matter to God in prayers. Whether it concerns us directly or we try to shy away from it, I’m sorry to say this: a third world war has formally begun,” he said.
He warned that the unfolding conflict could become the deadliest the world has ever seen and appealed to northern youths participating in protests to withdraw from the streets.
“To some of those guys up North protesting over what is happening in Iran, please let us leave the streets. You don’t want to provoke a superpower. If we draw their attention towards us, we’re in trouble. We cannot stand the fury of these countries. Let us just respect ourselves and manage our problems the way we are, please,” Edochie said.
The actor’s statement highlights concerns about local involvement in international conflicts and stresses caution amid escalating global tensions.
