Nigerian female boxing sensation Odunayo Ayanwale prepares to make her first appearance in the United Kingdom ring on January 24, 2026, at the iconic York Hall in London. The fighter, who commands a professional record of 2-1 and initiated her career in November 2024, will confront the unbeaten British boxer Charlie Brown (5-0). They square off in an International Female Light-Welterweight Challenge designed for six rounds, with each round lasting two minutes.
Remi Aboderin, the Secretary-General of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC), verified the details on Thursday to our correspondent. He confirmed that William Storey, the promoter licensed by the British and Irish Boxing Authority, issued the invitation to Ayanwale for the crucial bout at the historic venue located at 5 Old Ford Road, London E2 9PJ.
“Contracts have been signed, and we are pleased to see another Nigerian boxer getting international exposure,” Aboderin told newsmen.
“Odunayo has shown tremendous promise since turning professional last year, and this fight in the UK is a great opportunity for her to test herself against a foreign opponent.”
Dr. Rafiu Oladipo, President of the NBBofC, openly expressed his pride in the board’s continuous efforts to successfully arrange international opportunities for Nigerian professional boxers.
