Nigerian music icon Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has formally declared his intention to ascend the Awujale throne in Ijebuland.
The Fuji legend submitted his application in a letter to the Fusengbuwa Ruling House on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. He stated that his candidacy aligns with both Ogun State chieftaincy laws and the Ijebu customary law.
“I, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Olasunkanmi Omogbolahan Anifowoshe, MON, formally notify the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of my intention to be considered for the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland,” Kwam1 wrote in his submission.
The 68-year-old musician highlighted his royal roots from the Jadiara line of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Agunsebi Quarters. He also cited over 50 years of cultural advocacy through music as part of his contribution to Ijebu heritage.
Kwam1’s declaration follows the passing of the late Awujale, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who died in July 2025 at the age of 91 after a remarkable 64-year reign.
With his extensive cultural influence and royal lineage, K1 De Ultimate has positioned himself as a prominent contender for the historic throne, sparking discussions across Ijebuland and Nigeria at large.
