Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has cautioned Liverpool manager Arne Slot that he risks losing the trust of some of his players if his team selection policy continues.
Leboeuf’s warning comes in the wake of Liverpool’s 2–1 defeat to Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday — a result that saw the Reds drop to third place behind Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League standings.
Speaking on ESPN FC, the Frenchman claimed that Slot’s selection decisions could alienate key squad members such as Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Curtis Jones, and Federico Chiesa.
“He [Arne Slot] is going to lose the bench if he carries on like this,” Leboeuf warned.
“The players who came on against Manchester United — Frimpong, Jones, Ekitike and Chiesa — they work hard, and they see players being picked by the coach because of their price tag.
“That’s something you can be blamed for; you can lose the players who are in top form right now, especially Ekitike.”
Leboeuf’s remarks highlight growing scrutiny over Slot’s rotation policy, as Liverpool aim to bounce back in their next fixture and keep pace in the title race.
