Nollywood actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has expressed heartfelt gratitude after winning the Best Actor award at the 2025 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for his outstanding performance in Lisabi: The Uprising.
The actor took to social media to celebrate the win, describing it as a collective triumph for everyone who worked on the film, including the director, cast, and crew.
“Winning the Best Actor award at AMAA 2025 for Lisabi: The Uprising is not just a personal achievement, it is a triumph for every single person who poured their heart and soul into this film,” Adedimeji wrote.
He specifically appreciated Niyi Akinmolayan, the film’s director, as well as his wife and fellow actor Mo Bimpe, the creative team, and the entire production crew.
Adedimeji also acknowledged Hakeem Effect, who won the Achievement in Makeup award for his exceptional work on the same film, noting that the recognition reflected the depth of talent and commitment within the Nigerian film industry.
“Together, we have proven that African storytelling is a force to be reckoned with, capable of delivering narratives that resonate beyond our borders,” he added.
Expressing optimism for the future, the award-winning actor promised that Lisabi: The Uprising was only the beginning of a new era in African filmmaking.
“We will continue to push boundaries, raise the bar, and redefine excellence in filmmaking. The future holds even greater stories, bolder performances, and groundbreaking artistry that will elevate African cinema to new heights,” he said.
