
Nollywood actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji is celebrating a major career milestone after his historical film Lisabi received seven nominations at the 2025 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
The film earned recognition across multiple top categories, including Best Visual Effects, Best Director, Best Make-up, Best Nigerian Film, Best Actor, Best Film in an African Language, and Best Film Overall.
Reacting to the news in an Instagram post, Adedimeji expressed deep gratitude and excitement, describing the nominations as a humbling reminder of the dedication that went into the project.
“ALHAMDULILAH. I once again realised how much of a great work our last mega project, Lisabi, is, as we bagged seven nominations at the AMAA Awards,” he wrote. “To be nominated in seven categories alongside great movies from this continent means so much to me, and beyond words, I’m super grateful for the recognition.”
He went on to appreciate his cast, crew, and collaborators who contributed to the success of the film, particularly Niyi Akinmolayan and Anthill Studios, for helping bring the ambitious story to life.
“A big thank you to our wonderful partners, @niyiakinmolayan and @anthillstudios, for bringing our vision to life. I hope this encourages someone to keep going, recognition will come someday,” he added.
Lisabi, which chronicles the legendary tale of the Egba warrior who led a revolt against oppression in precolonial Nigeria, has been praised for its production quality, powerful storytelling, and cultural depth.
Adedimeji’s recognition at the AMAAs marks yet another milestone in his rapidly evolving career, reinforcing his reputation as one of Nollywood’s most versatile and purpose-driven actors.
