The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed that a loaded 40-foot Mack container truck overturned on Ojuelegba Bridge, heading toward the National Stadium in Surulere.
LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq, said that the incident completely blocked the bridge, preventing access for other vehicles.
“No casualties were recorded,” Adebayo said. “Vehicular movements from Fadeyi and Onipan have been temporarily diverted through the service lane at Ojuelegba, exiting at Barracks to connect with Funso Williams Avenue.”
He added that LASTMA personnel were on-site with equipment, actively coordinating emergency and recovery operations to ensure the safe and swift evacuation of the truck. “Pending completion of the recovery operation, Ojuelegba Bridge inward National Stadium remains temporarily closed to traffic,” he noted, assuring that updates would be communicated to the public.
In a separate incident, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that no casualties were recorded when a train collided with a Toyota Hiace bus on Monday night at Arena, Oshodi.
According to a preliminary report dated December 23, 2025, signed by the agency’s Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA immediately activated its state emergency response plan from its Cappa Base in Oshodi and deployed a response team to the scene.
