The dedication of health workers in Lagos State Health District IV has driven measurable progress in immunisation coverage, antenatal care, and skilled deliveries.
The Permanent Secretary of the district, Abimbola Bowale, attributed these gains to enhanced service delivery, stronger disease surveillance, and expanded access to essential healthcare services.
Speaking at the 2025 Recognition and Award Ceremony in Lagos, Bowale, who was represented by the Director of Medical Services and Disease Control, highlighted the district’s improvements in disease monitoring and response, ensuring timely reporting and prompt action during public health alerts.
Community outreach and health education initiatives have boosted public awareness, increased service uptake, and strengthened trust between health facilities and the communities they serve. Quality improvement efforts have also enhanced patient flow, record-keeping, and patient-centred care across health facilities.
“Through regular supervision, mentorship, and capacity-building activities, our health workers continue to enhance their skills and uphold professional standards”, Bowale added.
He acknowledged the contributions of all healthcare personnel, including nurses, midwives, doctors, community health workers, environmental health officers, laboratory staff, and support personnel, emphasizing that their dedication is key to delivering safe, accessible, and quality healthcare.
The Permanent Secretary explained that the award ceremony was organised to recognise outstanding performance and motivate staff to sustain a culture of excellence, accountability, and teamwork in public healthcare delivery.
