Authorities in Lagos have launched efforts to reach a TikTok user after her video alleging sexual assault in her home sparked widespread reactions online. The Lagos Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) confirmed on Tuesday that it is working to identify and contact the woman, known as Mirabel, to provide support and necessary intervention.
In a statement shared on its official platforms, the agency said it became aware of the situation through multiple public tags and growing concern from social media users. It added that locating the survivor is a priority to ensure her safety and access to care.
The agency also appealed to the public for any useful information that could help reach her, assuring that all communication would be treated with confidentiality and urgency. It reiterated that sexual violence is a serious offence and that survivors are entitled to protection, support, and justice.
Mirabel, who posted the video on TikTok, claimed the incident occurred in her apartment on Sunday, February 15. According to her account, she responded to a knock on her door that morning but was suddenly overpowered and lost consciousness.
She alleged that she later regained awareness and realised she had been attacked before the suspect fled. She also claimed that she subsequently received an online message from someone who allegedly admitted to the act and issued threats.
Authorities have not confirmed the identity of any suspect, and efforts are ongoing to reach the woman, verify the claims, and ensure appropriate action is taken.
