The Federal High Court in Lagos has approved the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s (NDLEA) request for the interim forfeiture of Proxy Night Club, owned by entertainer Mike Nwalie, popularly known as Pretty Mike.
The order, issued by Justice Musa Kakaki, suspends operations at the Victoria Island venue until a hearing scheduled for January 28, 2026. This follows a raid by NDLEA on October 26, which led to the seizure of 169 canisters of nitrous oxide, 200 grams of cannabis, and the arrest of over 200 partygoers.
According to NDLEA, the raid was conducted based on intelligence about a drug-themed party at the nightclub. The agency reportedly infiltrated the event and shut it down in the early hours to prevent further illegal activity.
The court’s decision marks a significant move in Nigeria’s ongoing effort to clamp down on drug-related activities in entertainment venues. Proxy Night Club will remain closed pending the outcome of the full forfeiture hearing.
