Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has celebrated the second anniversary of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line, praising its achievements and unveiling a special fare reduction to mark the milestone.
In a statement shared on his official handle, the governor described the Blue Line as a bold step that has transformed commuting in Lagos, carrying over five million passengers in just two years without a single recorded accident.
“Two years ago, we launched the Lagos Blue Line, and today I feel an immense sense of pride and gratitude for how far we’ve come,” Sanwo-Olu said.
According to him, trains now run every 10 minutes, completing more than 90 trips daily, drastically cutting journey times and easing mobility across the state.
“These achievements prove that when we work with dedication and purpose, we can build systems that truly serve the people,” the governor added, thanking Lagosians for their trust and support.
To celebrate the anniversary, Sanwo-Olu announced a 50% fare reduction on all Blue Line trips for Thursday, September 4, 2025, encouraging residents to take advantage of the offer and experience the service.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a modern, safe, and efficient transportation system, noting that the Blue Line is just one step in the broader vision of creating a Lagos where movement is easier, faster, and safer.
“Our journey is far from over. Step by step, we are shaping the Lagos of our future,” he concluded.
