The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially rebuked recent assertions from opposition circles predicting a party collapse prior to the upcoming national convention. APC spokesperson Mogaji (Hon) Seye Oladejo characterized these projections as amusement-inducing fallacies that lack any basis in reality. He argued that the fragmented opposition is merely projecting its own systemic failures onto the APC, which remains anchored by a tradition of internal democracy, organizational discipline, and political resilience.
Oladejo emphasized that APC conventions serve as strategic vehicles for institutional renewal and party consolidation rather than catalysts for disorder. He cited the successful execution of the Membership e-Registration exercise as definitive evidence of the party’s technological advancement and internal harmony. This initiative has reportedly bolstered the party’s demographic reach and fortified its database, ensuring a structured and unified approach to the forthcoming national gathering.
While the APC strengthens its foundation, the spokesperson noted that opposition parties continue to suffer from chronic leadership disputes and high-profile defections. Oladejo specifically highlighted recent controversial admissions by opposition figure Nasir El-Rufai regarding the alleged surveillance of the National Security Adviser’s communications. He questioned whether El-Rufai considers himself beyond the reach of the law, noting that such actions pose significant threats to national security and demand immediate accountability.
The APC also took aim at former minister Rotimi Amaechi for allegedly spreading falsehoods concerning the nation’s new tax legislation. Oladejo accused Amaechi of intentionally distorting essential economic reforms to create public confusion. The party maintains that a functioning democracy necessitates an opposition that offers viable policy alternatives rather than engaging in theatrical misinformation and reactive politics.
“As others speculate about crisis, we consolidate. As others amplify rhetoric, we deepen structure. As others predict implosion, we prepare for expansion. There is no implosion-only renewed momentum, unity of purpose, and strategic alignment as we approach the next electoral cycle,” Oladejo stated on behalf of the Lagos APC.
The party remains confident that its superior organization and governance record will continue to outpace the dwindling influence of its political rivals. As the next electoral cycle draws near, the APC intends to focus on strategic growth and the delivery of its mandate to the Nigerian people. Oladejo concluded that reality would once again expose the contradictions of an opposition that has failed to provide a credible challenge to the ruling party’s vision.
