The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s New Year address, describing it as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to bold economic reforms and national renewal.
The party said the speech underscores the President’s resolve to take difficult but necessary decisions in the nation’s interest, prioritizing long-term progress over short-term popularity.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Lagos APC said it fully aligns with the direction outlined by the President, noting that the reforms being pursued are critical to addressing Nigeria’s long-standing structural and economic challenges.
The party emphasized that President Tinubu’s message highlights the responsibility of leadership to make tough decisions for the nation rather than yielding to short-term political pressures. It stressed that the administration is tackling economic and governance issues neglected by previous governments.
The statement also pointed to early signs of progress, including stabilizing macroeconomic indicators, renewed investor confidence, increased infrastructure activity, and ongoing efforts to strengthen national security. These, the party said, are the direct results of the administration’s policy decisions.
While acknowledging criticism from opposition parties, the APC said the government remains focused on implementing its reform agenda and urged Nigerians to exercise patience as the changes take effect. Highlighting Lagos State’s experience with structural reforms, the party said it understands the sacrifices required for long-term development and will continue to support the federal government’s policy direction.
The statement concluded with a call for unity and resolve, “Despite the orchestrated hysteria of a disoriented opposition, Nigeria is recording measurable progress. Macroeconomic indicators are stabilizing, investor confidence is rebounding, infrastructure investments are gaining momentum, and decisive steps are being taken to reclaim national security. These gains are the early dividends of leadership that refuses to mortgage the future for applause.
President Tinubu will not be stampeded or distracted by voices offering nothing beyond recycled excuses. Lagos stands solidly with the President. Lagos understands reform, knows that progress demands discipline, patience, and sacrifice, and will continue to defend and support the President’s New Year direction without apology.
Nigerians are called to remain focused and resolute. The road to national renewal is being traveled with clarity of purpose. Nigeria is moving forward, whether the cynics like it or not”.
