Kwara United interim head coach, Ashifat Suleiman, has attributed his team’s narrow defeat to Kano Pillars to a defensive lapse in concentration.
The Harmony Boys fell 1–0 to Pillars in a rescheduled NPFL matchday six fixture at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Wednesday, with veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali scoring the decisive goal in the first half.
Reflecting on the result, Suleiman expressed disappointment but promised that his side would respond positively in upcoming games.
“Our plan here was to get maximum points but things didn’t work out in our favour. The league is a marathon, and we’ll bounce back stronger,” he told Kwara United’s media team.
The defeat leaves Kwara United 13th on the NPFL table with eight points from seven matches, as the Ilorin-based club continues to search for consistency in the early stages of the season.
Suleiman noted that his players must remain focused and avoid costly mistakes as they prepare for their next fixture against Wikki Tourists at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi this weekend.
The loss extends Kwara United’s winless run away from home, while Kano Pillars continue their solid start to the campaign under Coach Abdul Maikaba.
