
Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Kwara United and Abia Warriors, were both eliminated on Sunday after suffering second-leg defeats in their preliminary round ties.
At the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, Kwara United fell 1-0 to Ghana’s Asante Kotoko, bowing out 5-3 on aggregate despite dominating the match but wasting several scoring chances. Hubert Ayau struck the decisive goal in the 53rd minute.
In Bamako, Abia Warriors were edged 1-0 by Djoliba of Mali, who advanced 2-1 on aggregate, ending Nigeria’s hopes of progress in the competition at the first hurdle.
