A prominent ally of former Kano State governor and NNPP presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Rt. Hon. Mustapha Shu’aib, has resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to pursue a fresh political alignment.
Shu’aib, who was the NNPP candidate for Bida North Constituency in the Niger State House of Assembly election and the youngest candidate in the 2023 general election, said the decision followed extensive consultations with political associates, community leaders, and supporters across his constituency.
The resignation signals a new phase in his political journey and is expected to reshape political calculations within the North Central zone. Sources close to Shu’aib described the move as a strategic repositioning rather than a withdrawal from politics, aimed at expanding his political reach and strengthening his capacity to serve his constituents.
Widely regarded as a disciplined and people-oriented politician, Shu’aib has built a reputation for advocating youth inclusion, good governance, and grassroots development. His involvement in the Kwankwasiyya movement had positioned him as a notable voice within the NNPP.
Supporters say his decision reflects political maturity and a clear vision for the future, especially amid evolving political dynamics in Niger State and Nigeria. As he seeks a new political alignment, observers believe Shu’aib will remain a relevant force in the region’s political landscape.
