Nollywood actor Kunle Afod has continued to express deep sorrow over the death of his colleague, Aunty Ajara, whose passing has left the Yoruba film industry in mourning.
The actress, whose real name was Lasisi Ajarat Morenikeji, died on February 5, 2026, after a prolonged illness. She was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic traditions. Aunty Ajara was 27 years old.
In an emotional message shared publicly, Afod described her death as difficult to accept, saying it still feels unreal. He noted that although she is gone, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Submitting to Islamic faith, Afod announced plans for an eight-day fidau prayer in her honour. The prayer session is scheduled for February 12, 2026, and will be attended by family members, friends, and colleagues who wish to pray for the peaceful repose of her soul.
He called on the public to remember the late actress in their prayers, asking that Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljanah Firdaus.
Afod also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support shown to the family since her passing, noting that details of the fidau prayer have been shared publicly.
