Veteran TV personality Krystn Enem has opened up about stepping away from television at the height of her career, citing burnout as the reason for an eight-year hiatus.
Enem gained popularity with The Krystn Enem Show, which initially aired on PRTV before expanding to Africa Magic Urban on DSTV and GOTV. She became known for her engaging interviews with top Nigerian entertainers, including Olamide, Falz, Yemi Alade, Simi, Lolo, Denrele Edun, and JJC Skillz.
Speaking to PUNCH Online, Enem explained that the intense pace of her career had taken a toll.
“I took a break because I was tired, mentally, emotionally, physically, psychologically. Everything. I was even financially tired. A lot had happened in my life, and I had been working non-stop for almost 10 years. My body just shut down. I couldn’t think,” she said.
What was intended as a short break gradually extended over years. “One week of creative block became two weeks, then a month, then two months. I decided to take six months off, and life just kept happening. What was supposed to be a six-month break ended up becoming an eight-year break,” Enem revealed.
During her time away, she experienced major life changes, including motherhood and relocating to the United States. Now back in media, she has launched Conversations with Krystn Enem, a digital-first podcast available on YouTube and Spotify that focuses on personal growth, identity, relationships, and emotional well-being.
“Growth happens when we start talking. Life moves fast, but here, we slow it down,” she said, describing her return as a fresh chapter that blends her media experience with her corporate background abroad.
Enem’s comeback highlights a journey of reinvention, balancing professional passion with personal well-being while inspiring audiences to prioritize growth and self-care.
