Former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has revealed why his former club triumphed over Barcelona in last weekend’s 2-1 El Clásico win at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Goals from Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham sealed the victory for Los Blancos, who extended their lead at the top of LaLiga.
Speaking on his Einfach mal Luppen podcast, Kroos said the win was down to Real Madrid’s tactical intelligence and ability to exploit Barcelona’s weaknesses.
“El Clásico? I’m very happy that Real Madrid won. A well-deserved victory. They took advantage of Barcelona’s play,” the German said. “The score could have been higher at halftime. Real Madrid approached this match with great intelligence.”
Real Madrid will next face Valencia in a LaLiga fixture on Saturday.
